Testing the smoke alarms takes a minute, and a minute a month is the whole job.
A smoke alarm is the cheapest thing in a house and the only one that works while everybody is asleep.

Worth doing
- Press the test button once a month.
- Replace the whole unit at the date printed on it.
- Put one on every floor, and one outside the bedrooms.
