What a policy actually costs depends on how many people live at the address and the amount you insure for. A quotation gives the figure for your own situation.

01

What the policy covers

This policy answers for damage you cause to another person, or to something belonging to them, outside of work and outside of driving.

  • Damage to something that belongs to someone else.
  • Injury to another person, and what follows from it.
  • Damage caused by a child who lives at your address.
  • Damage caused by a pet you keep.
  • Damage caused while you are doing volunteer work.
02

What the policy does not cover

  • Damage to your own things, or to the things of someone living at your address.
  • Damage caused with a motor vehicle, a boat or an aircraft. Those belong on a policy of their own.
  • Damage caused in paid work, which is the employer to answer for.
  • Damage caused on purpose.
  • A fine, a penalty or a sum agreed in a contract.

The conditions document names every situation the policy leaves out, and it is the document a claim is assessed against.

03

The conditions in plain words

The policy answers up to the amount named on your schedule, and that amount is the most it pays for one event, however many people were affected by it.

Everyone living at the address is insured on the same policy: partners, children, and a child who has moved out to study.

Never agree in writing that you will pay for damage before the claim has been looked at. An agreement made in advance is difficult to undo afterwards.

Questions about this policy

Who is insured on this policy?

Everyone who lives at the address on the schedule. A child studying elsewhere stays insured while they are not living with a partner and are not in paid work.

What happens after I report damage I caused?

The report is registered and the other person is asked what happened and what the damage is. Both accounts are read together.

The outcome reaches you as a decision letter, with the date it was taken and the reason behind it.

Is something I borrowed insured?

A borrowed thing that you damage is not covered by this policy. The conditions treat it as being in your care, and things in your care are left out.
