Photographing a garden shed
Photographing a garden shed takes about ten minutes and saves an argument later. It is the kind of thing nobody does until the first time they wish they had.
Most household trouble is slow before it is sudden. A pipe drips for a season before it bursts, a lock sticks for a month before it fails, and a photograph taken today is worth more than a memory taken next year.
None of this changes what a policy pays. It changes how long the paperwork takes, and how much of it rests on what somebody remembers.

Worth doing
- Redo it when something changes, not on a fixed day of the year.
- Keep the result somewhere that is not the room it is about.
- Write the date on whatever you produce, on the photograph or on the list.
