Checking a home left empty for a season costs ten minutes now, or a fortnight later.
A home standing empty is not a quieter version of a home being lived in. Nothing gets noticed, so a small failure has a whole season to become a large one.
The conditions ask what was done while it stood empty, and the answer is usually three simple things done before the door was locked.

Worth doing
- Turn the water off at the stopcock and drain the system.
- Leave low heat on if the water stays in.
- Ask somebody to look in, and write down when they did.
